.1,2 He was the son of Pierre Nezat and Marie Magdelaine Prevost.3 He and Julie Felicie Barre obtained a marriage license on 31 December 1788 at Opelousas, St. Landry Parish, Louisiana.4,5 He married Julie Felicie Barre, daughter of Charles Alexandre Barre and Marie Magdelaine Decuir, on 1 January 1789 at St. Landry Catholic Church, Opelousas, St. Landry Parish, Louisiana.6 He was the godfather of Antoine Ritter baptized on 1 November 1800 at St. Landry Catholic Church, Opelousas, St. Landry Parish, Louisiana.7 He appeared on the census of 1810 at Opelousas, St. Landry Parish, Louisiana, listed in the household was 1 free white male under 10, 3 free white males 16-25, 1 free white male over 45, 1 free white female under 10, 1 free white female 10-15, 1 free white female 16-25, 1 free white female 26-44, and 6 slaves.8 He was a veteran of the War of 1812 as a Private in 16 Regiment (Thompson's) Louisiana Militia in 1812.9 He appeared on the census of 1820 at Opelousas, St. Landry Parish, Louisiana, listing in the household free white males: 1 16-18, 1 18-26, 1 26-45, and 1 over 45; free white females: 1 16-26 and 1 over 45; 13 persons engaged in agriculture; slaves: 8 males and 5 females.10 He died in 1823 at age 54 years. He was the subject of a succession filed in December 1823.11 He was listed as a son in the succession of Pierre Nezat on 24 March 1827 at St. Martinville, St. Martin Parish, Louisiana.12
