Joseph Gustave Bertrand

     Joseph Gustave Bertrand was born on 10 July 1862 at Lafayette, Lafayette Parish, Louisiana.1,2 He married Marie Azalie Arceneaux, daughter of Pierre Emile Arceneaux and Marie Alzina Richard, on 19 August 1880.3,1 He died from a gunshot wound while trying to break up an altercation between Willie Foreman and Solomon Spell on 19 May 1892 at Duson, Lafayette Parish, Louisiana, at age 29 years, 10 months and 9 days.2 He was buried at St. Pierre Cemetery, Carencro, Lafayette Parish, Louisiana.2
