Simon Marks was baptized on 25 December 1794 at Opelousas, St. Landry Parish, Louisiana.1 He was the son of Baltazar Marks and Catherine Miller. He married Marie Jeanne Stelly, daughter of Jean Baptiste Stelly and Magdalene Ritter, on 1 February 1814 at St. Landry Catholic Church, Opelousas, St. Landry Parish, Louisiana.2
