     Pierre Joseph Richard was born in 1730 at Port Royal, Annapolis County, Nova Scotia, Canada.2,3 He was the son of Alexandre Leandre Richard and Marie Madeleine Thibodeaux.3 He married Marguerite Dugas in 1752 at Opelousas, St. Landry Parish, Louisiana.2,3 In 1756, Pierre Joseph Richard emigrated to Louisiana from Canada.1 He witnessed the marriage of Pierre Richard and Marie Josephe Dugas on 8 May 1787 at St. Landry Catholic Church, Opelousas, St. Landry Parish, Louisiana.4 He was the godfather of Louis Andre Richard baptized on 24 August 1788 at St. Landry Catholic Church, Opelousas, St. Landry Parish, Louisiana.5 He died on 3 May 1806 at Opelousas, St. Landry Parish, Louisiana, at age 76 years.3
