Nicolas Picou was born circa 1795 at St. James Parish, Louisiana.2,3 He was the son of Nicolas Picou and Scholastique Bourgeois.3 He married Ludivine Teranie Patin, daughter of Marcel Patin and Ludivine Broussard, on 26 June 1820 at St. Martin de Tours Catholic Church, St. Martinville, St. Martin Parish, Louisiana.3 He died from a pistol shot fired in a "fit of madness" at the home of Jean CAILLIER at 1:00 pm on 9 January 1821.2,1 He was buried on 10 January 1821 at St. Martin de Tours Catholic Cemetery, St. Martinville, St. Martin Parish, Louisiana.2
