     Marcelle Nezat was born on 25 September 1836 at Port Barre, St. Landry Parish, Louisiana.1 He was the son of Pierre Alexandre Nezat and Virginie Marcel Patin.1 He was baptized on 25 March 1837 at Cathedral of St. John, 914 St. John Street, Lafayette, Lafayette Parish, Louisiana, at age 6 months.1 He married Emelia Roy, daughter of Pierre Ulger Roy and Nanette Zilia Nezat, on 9 April 1860 at St. Landry Catholic Church, Opelousas, St. Landry Parish, Louisiana.2 He and Emelia Roy were related to each other as first cousins and second cousins. He began military service on 7 September 1862 at Camp Pratt, Iberia Parish, Louisiana, as a Private, Company D, Consolidated 18 Regiment and Yellow Jacket Battalion, Louisiana Infantry, Army of the Confederate States of America.3,4 On 6 May 1863, Marcel Nezat signed a Parole of Honor swearing not to take up arms against the United States until he was exchanged as a prisoner of war at Provost Marshal's Office, Opelousas, St. Landry Parish, Louisiana.5 Between January 1864 and February 1864, Marcel Nezat was listed on the Company Roll as a Private, Company D, Consolidated 18 Regiment and Yellow Jacket Battalion, Louisiana Infantry, C. S. A.4 He ended military service and was paroled as a prisoner of war on 22 June 1865 at Washington, St. Landry Parish, Louisiana.3,6 He and his wife Amelia Roy appeared on the census of 16 June 1870 at 1st Ward, St. Landry Parish, Louisiana.7 He was employed as a farmer on 16 June 1870 at 1st Ward, St. Landry Parish, Louisiana.7 He became a widower upon the death of his wife, Clefunte Amelie Nezat, on 5 April 1873 at Port Barre, St. Landry Parish, Louisiana.8,9,10 He was listed as the husband in the succession of Clefunte Amelie Roy on 7 June 1875 at St. Landry Parish Courthouse, Opelousas, St. Landry Parish, Louisiana.11 He married Marcelline Elodie St. Cyr, daughter of Alexis St. Cyr Sr. and Clemence Aulaine, on 19 June 1875 at Port Barre, St. Landry Parish, Louisiana.12,13 He became a widower upon the death of his wife, Marcelline Elodie Nezat, on 4 October 1876 at Opelousas, St. Landry Parish, Louisiana.14,15,16 He and Marie Alicia Marks obtained a marriage license on 27 May 1878 at Opelousas, St. Landry Parish, Louisiana.17 He married Alicia Marks, daughter of Caliste Marks and Marie Denise Bergeron, on 10 June 1878 at St. Francis Regis Catholic Church, Arnaudville, St. Landry Parish, Louisiana.18 He and Alicia Marks were related to each other as first cousins and second cousins. He and his wife Marie Alicia Marks appeared on the census of 15 June 1880 at South 1/2 of 1st Ward, St. Landry Parish, Louisiana.19 He and his wife Marie Alicia Nezat appeared on the census of 25 June 1900 at 1st Ward, St. Landry Parish, Louisiana.20 He was employed as a farmer on 25 June 1900 at 1st Ward, St. Landry Parish, Louisiana.20 He appeared as the father on the census of 7 May 1910 in the household of Bussy Nezat at 3rd Ward, St. Landry Parish, Louisiana.21 He became a widower upon the death of his wife, Marie Alicia Nezat, on 31 October 1917 at Port Barre, St. Landry Parish, Louisiana.22,23,24 He appeared as the father on the census of 25 February 1920 in the household of Anna Theolia Nezat at 8th Street, Eunice, St. Landry Parish, Louisiana.25 He was shown as a cripple on the employment section of the Federal Census on 25 February 1920 at 8th Street, Eunice, St. Landry Parish, Louisiana.26 He died on 23 November 1925 at Eunice, St. Landry Parish, Louisiana, at age 89 years, 1 month and 29 days.27,28,29 He was buried in an unmarked grave at St. Landry Catholic Cemetery, Opelousas, St. Landry Parish, Louisiana.29
