     Mary Runnels was born on 20 February 1850 at Louisiana.2,1 Mary Runnels also went by the name of Putchie.2 She was the daughter of (?) Runnels and Fanny (?)1 She married Charles Napoleon Charlton, son of Napoleon Bonaparte Charlton and a female slave (?), circa 1866.1 She appeared on the census of 22 June 1880 at Pct 1, Jefferson County, Texas, in the household of her husband Charles Charlton.3 She appeared on the census of 18 June 1900 at Collier's Ferry Road, Beaumont, Jefferson County, Texas, in the household of her husband Charles Charlton.1 She became a widow upon the death of her husband, Charles Napoleon Charlton, on 23 March 1908.4 She died on 26 August 1930 at age 80 years, 6 months and 6 days.2 She was buried on 28 August 1930 at Anthony Cemetery, Beaumont, Jefferson County, Texas.2
