Francois Jarret de Vercheres was born on 26 September 1632 at St-Chef, La Tour-du-Pin, Dauphine, France
.2 He was the son of Jean Jarret de Vercheres and Claudine Pecaudy.1,3 He may have been born in 1641 at Dauphine, France.3 He began military service in 1665 at France joining the Carignan-Salieres regiment.3 He along with his regiment was sent to protect French settlements from Iriquois attacks at Canada circa July 1665.4 He married Marie Denise Perrot dit Vildaigre, daughter of Jacques Perrot dit Vildaigre and Michelle LeFlot, on 17 September 1669 at Sainte-Famille, L'Île-d'Orleans, Quebec, Canada.5,6 He died on 26 February 1700 at Vercheres, Countrecoeur, Quebec, Canada, at age 67 years and 5 months.1
