I was so wrong. Mom caught it immediately as I was sharing your descendants info. Mom has Dad's birth certificate. Dad was not born at Shawnee Prairie, Angelina County. He was born in Colmesneil in Tyler County. I'm so sorry. (And I remember this now because I named Colmesneil as his birthplace when I applied for my passport a few years ago.)
Guess I was digesting too much info too fast when I told you about Shawnee Prairie, which is where the photo with Dad on Frank's knee was taken. Shawnee Prairie is where Mose and Sophie moved after their store and home burned down. (That's the store where Mo was a "butcher" and Granny was a "proprietress of a restaurant" according to the 1930 info.) Mom says they lost everything they owned in that fire.
Mom got a good laugh about Cecil's middle name "Cicero." She's looking forward to calling Cecil's daughter Judy about that this evening. Judy's full name is Judith Cecille Hayes (she even had her surname changed back after her bad marriage to John Gruver). "Cecille" comes from her Dad Cecil. Interesting footnote = the origins of the name Cecil are Welsh, where 70% of the men now living share my common DNA.
