Onesime Cormier was born on 12 September 1811 at St. Martinville, St. Martin Parish, Louisiana.1 He was the son of Louis Cormier and Thecla Meaux.1 He was baptized on 29 March 1812 at St. Martin de Tours Catholic Church, St. Martinville, St. Martin Parish, Louisiana, at age 6 months and 17 days.1 He was listed as a son in the succession of Thecla Meaux on 21 June 1823 at Lafayette Parish Courthouse, Lafayette, Lafayette Parish, Louisiana.2 He married Marguerite Melancon, daughter of Joseph Melancon and Marie Ledoux, on 1 August 1831 at Cathedral of St. John, 914 St. John Street, Lafayette, Lafayette Parish, Louisiana.3
