     Elijah Goodnight was born on 16 October 1831 at Illinois.1,2 He was the son of Charles Foxwing Goodnight and Charlotte Collier.1,2 He appeared on the census of 21 October 1850 in the household of Charlotte Daugherty at Milam and Williamson District, Milam County, Texas.3 He married Sarah E. Donaldson circa 1851.4 He and his wife Sarah E. Goodnight appeared on the census of 26 June 1860 at Western District, Milam County, Texas.4 He became a widower upon the death of his wife, Sarah E. Goodnight, before 1867 at Milam County, Texas.5 He married Vernetta Westbrook circa 1867.6 He and his wife Vernetta Goodnight appeared on the census of 29 July 1870 at Milam County, Texas.6 He and his wife Vernetta Goodnight appeared on the census of 16 June 1880 at Milam County, Texas.7 He became a widower upon the death of his wife, Vernetta Westbrook, circa 1900. He married Mornen Helen Parker on 25 July 1904 at Milam County, Texas.8 He died from pneumonia at 10:50 pm on 1 December 1920 at his home on the Corsicana Road 7 miles out of Waco, McLennan County, Texas, at age 89 years, 1 month and 15 days.1,2 He was buried on 2 December 1920 at Concord Cemetery, Bellmead, McLennan County, Texas.1,2
